What we repair on the Dell Latitude 5421
Screen replacement
We replace the 14-inch panel like-for-like, matching resolution and connector to the part number on the original.

Battery replacement
The battery is internal and held by screws. We fit a new one, then calibrate and test it under load. A battery of this age that swells should be replaced before it damages the trackpad or casing.

Charging port and power repair
Depending on the configuration this charges through a round socket, USB-C or both. We test the adapter, the port and the charging circuit to find which has failed.
SSD and storage upgrade
The Dell Latitude 5421 takes an M.2 SSD. We clone the existing drive to a larger one so Windows, programs and files carry over unchanged.

Memory upgrade
Most configurations of the Dell Latitude 5421 have SODIMM memory slots, so memory can be increased. We check what is fitted and the maximum the board supports.
Windows repair and reinstall
The Dell Latitude 5421 meets Microsoft's Windows 11 requirements in most configurations. We upgrade from Windows 10, which reached end of support in October 2025, or reinstall Windows 11 cleanly with your files kept.
We also carry out keyboard and trackpad repair, motherboard repair, liquid damage repair, overheating and fan repair, hinge and casing repair, virus removal on the Dell Latitude 5421, along with USB, HDMI and audio port repair, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth card replacement, webcam and speaker faults, BIOS password removal with proof of ownership and data transfer to a new machine.
Known issues with the Latitude 5000 range
- USB-C and Thunderbolt charging and docking faults are common on recent models and are usually repairable at component level.
- A forgotten BIOS administrator password can be cleared with proof of ownership.
- Latitudes are built to be serviced: batteries, keyboards, screens and SSDs are all accessible and parts are easy to source.
Data recovery from the Dell Latitude 5421
The SSD in the Dell Latitude 5421 can be removed and imaged on our own equipment, so files can usually be recovered even when the machine will not start. Recent Windows machines often have device encryption or BitLocker switched on. If so we will need the recovery key, which is normally saved in your Microsoft account.

Questions
Can the SSD or memory in the Dell Latitude 5421 be upgraded?
The SSD can be replaced with a larger M.2 drive. Memory is in slots on most configurations and can be increased.
My Dell Latitude 5421 will not turn on. Is my data lost?
Usually not. The drive is separate from the fault in most cases, and we can remove it and copy your files even if the machine itself is not worth repairing.
Can the Dell Latitude 5421 run Windows 11?
Yes, in most configurations.
