What we repair on the Dell OptiPlex 5480 All-in-One

Screen replacement

The 23.8-inch panel is the front of the whole machine. We replace cracked, dark or lined panels and check the backlight circuit, because a black screen on an all-in-one is not always the panel.

Windows repair and reinstall

The Dell OptiPlex 5480 All-in-One meets Microsoft's Windows 11 requirements in most configurations. We upgrade from Windows 10, which reached end of support in October 2025, or reinstall Windows 11 cleanly with your files kept.

SSD and storage upgrade

The Dell OptiPlex 5480 All-in-One has an M.2 slot and, on some configurations, a 2.5-inch bay. Machines that shipped with a hard drive are much faster once moved to an SSD.

Memory upgrade

Most configurations of the Dell OptiPlex 5480 All-in-One have SODIMM memory slots, so memory can be increased. We check what is fitted and the maximum the board supports.

We also carry out motherboard repair, overheating and fan repair, virus removal on the Dell OptiPlex 5480 All-in-One, along with stand repair, no-picture and no-boot diagnosis, port repair, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth card replacement and data transfer to a new PC.

Known issues with the OptiPlex and Inspiron All-in-One range

  • All-in-one PCs use laptop-style parts behind the screen, so repairs involve removing the back cover or the display panel.
  • A black screen with the PC still running is often a backlight or panel fault and not a failed computer.

Data recovery from the Dell OptiPlex 5480 All-in-One

The SSD in the Dell OptiPlex 5480 All-in-One can be removed and imaged on our own equipment, so files can usually be recovered even when the machine will not start. Recent Windows machines often have device encryption or BitLocker switched on. If so we will need the recovery key, which is normally saved in your Microsoft account.

Questions

Can the SSD or memory in the Dell OptiPlex 5480 All-in-One be upgraded?
