HP EliteBook 840 G8 repairs and upgrades
Screen replacement
We replace the 14-inch panel like-for-like, matching resolution and connector to the part number on the original.

Memory upgrade
Most configurations of the HP EliteBook 840 G8 have SODIMM memory slots, so memory can be increased. We check what is fitted and the maximum the board supports.
Windows repair and reinstall
The HP EliteBook 840 G8 meets Microsoft's Windows 11 requirements in most configurations. We upgrade from Windows 10, which reached end of support in October 2025, or reinstall Windows 11 cleanly with your files kept.
Battery replacement
We replace the internal battery and check the charging circuit and adapter at the same time. On a 2021 machine a worn battery is the likely cause of short runtime, and we measure its capacity before recommending anything else.

Charging port and power repair
We replace worn charging sockets and repair USB-C ports and charging circuits at component level. The adapter is tested first, because it is the cheapest thing to be wrong.
SSD and storage upgrade
The HP EliteBook 840 G8 takes an M.2 SSD. We clone the existing drive to a larger one so Windows, programs and files carry over unchanged.

We also carry out keyboard and trackpad repair, motherboard repair, liquid damage repair, overheating and fan repair, hinge and casing repair, virus removal on the HP EliteBook 840 G8, along with USB, HDMI and audio port repair, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth card replacement, webcam and speaker faults, BIOS password removal with proof of ownership and data transfer to a new machine.
Notes from the workshop
- USB-C charging and docking faults are common board repairs on recent generations.
- EliteBooks are designed for servicing, with accessible batteries, SSDs and memory on most 800-series models.
- HP's BIOS protection is strict. A forgotten BIOS administrator password usually needs board-level work, and we ask for proof of ownership.
Data recovery from the HP EliteBook 840 G8
The SSD in the HP EliteBook 840 G8 can be removed and imaged on our own equipment, so files can usually be recovered even when the machine will not start. Recent Windows machines often have device encryption or BitLocker switched on. If so we will need the recovery key, which is normally saved in your Microsoft account.

Questions
Can the SSD or memory in the HP EliteBook 840 G8 be upgraded?
The SSD can be replaced with a larger M.2 drive. Memory is in slots on most configurations and can be increased.
My HP EliteBook 840 G8 will not turn on. Is my data lost?
Usually not. The drive is separate from the fault in most cases, and we can remove it and copy your files even if the machine itself is not worth repairing.
How much does a HP EliteBook 840 G8 screen replacement cost?
Price confirmed before work starts. The exact figure depends on the part your machine needs, and we confirm it before any work starts.
Where do I find the model number on my laptop?
The product name and product number are on the base label, or under the battery on older models. On many HP laptops Fn + Esc shows them on screen. For this model, look for 840 G8.
