The HP EliteBook X G2a takes an M.2 SSD. We clone the existing drive to a larger one so Windows, programs and files carry over unchanged.

Memory
Memory in the HP EliteBook X G2a is soldered and cannot be upgraded. It is worth knowing this before paying anyone for a memory upgrade.

Data recovery from the HP EliteBook X G2a
The SSD in the HP EliteBook X G2a can be removed and imaged on our own equipment, so files can usually be recovered even when the machine will not start. Recent Windows machines often have device encryption or BitLocker switched on. If so we will need the recovery key, which is normally saved in your Microsoft account.

My HP EliteBook X G2a will not turn on. Is my data lost?
Usually not. The drive is separate from the fault in most cases, and we can remove it and copy your files even if the machine itself is not worth repairing.
Where do I find the model number on my laptop?
The product name and product number are on the base label, or under the battery on older models. On many HP laptops Fn + Esc shows them on screen. For this model, look for G2a.
Can the HP EliteBook X G2a run Windows 11?
Yes. It shipped with Windows 11.
