HP Envy 13-ad Repair
This page sets out the repairs, upgrades and data recovery we carry out on the HP Envy 13-ad, with notes on what tends to go wrong and what can and cannot be upgraded. It is a 13.3-inch laptop from 2017. Both the drive and, on most configurations, the memory can be upgraded, which makes it a good candidate for a refresh.

Repairs we carry out on the HP Envy 13-ad
Screen replacement
A broken 13.3-inch screen is replaced with a panel of the same resolution and finish. We check the display cable while the lid is open.

Charging port and power repair
We replace worn charging sockets and repair USB-C ports and charging circuits at component level. The adapter is tested first, because it is the cheapest thing to be wrong.
SSD and storage upgrade
The HP Envy 13-ad takes an M.2 SSD. We clone the existing drive to a larger one so Windows, programs and files carry over unchanged.

Memory upgrade
Whether memory can be upgraded on the HP Envy 13-ad depends on the exact configuration. We check against the serial number before quoting.
Windows repair and reinstall
Windows 11 support depends on the processor: versions with an 8th-generation Intel Core or Ryzen 2000-series chip or newer qualify, and earlier ones do not. We check yours and advise.
Battery replacement
The battery is internal and held by screws. We fit a new one, then calibrate and test it under load. On a 2017 machine a worn battery is the likely cause of short runtime, and we measure its capacity before recommending anything else.

We also carry out keyboard and trackpad repair, motherboard repair, liquid damage repair, overheating and fan repair, hinge and casing repair, virus removal on the HP Envy 13-ad, along with USB, HDMI and audio port repair, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth card replacement, webcam and speaker faults, BIOS password removal with proof of ownership and data transfer to a new machine.
Notes from the workshop
- Hinge stiffness that cracks the lid or base is a recurring fault across several Envy generations.
- Envy laptops are thin, and on many the memory is soldered while the SSD remains replaceable.
Data recovery from the HP Envy 13-ad
The SSD in the HP Envy 13-ad can be removed and imaged on our own equipment, so files can usually be recovered even when the machine will not start.

Questions
Can the SSD or memory in the HP Envy 13-ad be upgraded?
The SSD can be replaced with a larger M.2 drive. Memory depends on the configuration, which we check from the serial number.
My HP Envy 13-ad will not turn on. Is my data lost?
Usually not. The drive is separate from the fault in most cases, and we can remove it and copy your files even if the machine itself is not worth repairing.
How do I get my HP Envy 13-ad to you?
Bring it to our workshop at Unit 1 The Willows, 80 Willow Walk, London SE1 5SY, or call 020 7237 6805 to ask about courier collection. We confirm the price before any work starts.
How much does a HP Envy 13-ad screen replacement cost?
Price confirmed before work starts. The exact figure depends on the part your machine needs, and we confirm it before any work starts.
