This page sets out the repairs, upgrades and data recovery we carry out on the Lenovo ThinkBook 14 G2 ARE, with notes on what tends to go wrong and what can and cannot be upgraded. It is a 14-inch laptop from 2021. Both the drive and, on most configurations, the memory can be upgraded, which makes it a good candidate for a refresh.

Repairs we carry out on the Lenovo ThinkBook 14 G2 ARE
Screen replacement
A broken 14-inch screen is replaced with a panel of the same resolution and finish. We check the display cable while the lid is open.

SSD and storage upgrade
The Lenovo ThinkBook 14 G2 ARE takes an M.2 SSD. We clone the existing drive to a larger one so Windows, programs and files carry over unchanged.

Memory upgrade
On most configurations of the Lenovo ThinkBook 14 G2 ARE, part of the memory is soldered and there is one free slot, so it can be increased but not replaced entirely.
Windows repair and reinstall
The Lenovo ThinkBook 14 G2 ARE meets Microsoft's Windows 11 requirements in most configurations. We upgrade from Windows 10, which reached end of support in October 2025, or reinstall Windows 11 cleanly with your files kept.
Battery replacement
We replace the internal battery and check the charging circuit and adapter at the same time. A battery of this age that swells should be replaced before it damages the trackpad or casing.

Charging port and power repair
We replace worn charging sockets and repair USB-C ports and charging circuits at component level. The adapter is tested first, because it is the cheapest thing to be wrong.
We also carry out keyboard and trackpad repair, motherboard repair, liquid damage repair, overheating and fan repair, hinge and casing repair, virus removal on the Lenovo ThinkBook 14 G2 ARE, along with USB, HDMI and audio port repair, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth card replacement, webcam and speaker faults, BIOS password removal with proof of ownership and data transfer to a new machine.
Notes from the workshop
- ThinkBooks combine consumer-style chassis with business features; most have a replaceable SSD, and memory is part-soldered on many.
- USB-C charging faults are the common board repair.
Data recovery from the Lenovo ThinkBook 14 G2 ARE
The SSD in the Lenovo ThinkBook 14 G2 ARE can be removed and imaged on our own equipment, so files can usually be recovered even when the machine will not start. Recent Windows machines often have device encryption or BitLocker switched on. If so we will need the recovery key, which is normally saved in your Microsoft account.
Estimate the cost with our data recovery calculator, or read about recovering files after a ransomware attack.

Questions
Can the SSD or memory in the Lenovo ThinkBook 14 G2 ARE be upgraded?
The SSD can be replaced with a larger M.2 drive. Part of the memory is soldered, with one slot free on most configurations.
My Lenovo ThinkBook 14 G2 ARE will not turn on. Is my data lost?
Usually not. The drive is separate from the fault in most cases, and we can remove it and copy your files even if the machine itself is not worth repairing.
Can the Lenovo ThinkBook 14 G2 ARE run Windows 11?
Yes, in most configurations.
How do I get my Lenovo ThinkBook 14 G2 ARE to you?
Bring it to our workshop at Unit 1 The Willows, 80 Willow Walk, London SE1 5SY, or call 020 7237 6805 to ask about courier collection. We confirm the price before any work starts.
