We repair the Dell Inspiron 17 5770 at our workshop in Bermondsey, from cracked screens and worn batteries to board faults and data recovery. It is a 17.3-inch laptop from 2017. Both the drive and, on most configurations, the memory can be upgraded, which makes it a good candidate for a refresh.

Memory upgrade
Whether memory can be upgraded on the Dell Inspiron 17 5770 depends on the exact configuration. We check against the serial number before quoting.
Windows repair and reinstall
Windows 11 support depends on the processor: versions with an 8th-generation Intel Core or Ryzen 2000-series chip or newer qualify, and earlier ones do not. We check yours and advise.
Battery replacement
The battery is internal and held by screws. We fit a new one, then calibrate and test it under load. A battery of this age that swells should be replaced before it damages the trackpad or casing.

Charging port and power repair
Depending on the configuration this charges through a round socket, USB-C or both. We test the adapter, the port and the charging circuit to find which has failed.
SSD and storage upgrade
The Dell Inspiron 17 5770 takes an M.2 SSD. We clone the existing drive to a larger one so Windows, programs and files carry over unchanged.

We also carry out keyboard and trackpad repair, motherboard repair, liquid damage repair, overheating and fan repair, hinge and casing repair, virus removal on the Dell Inspiron 17 5770, along with USB, HDMI and audio port repair, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth card replacement, webcam and speaker faults, BIOS password removal with proof of ownership and data transfer to a new machine.
What we see on the bench
- Many configurations shipped with a mechanical hard drive. Moving to an SSD is the most noticeable improvement for the money.
- The charging socket is a separate part on most models and can be replaced without touching the motherboard.
- Hinge mounts in the lid and base are a known weak point on Inspiron laptops. Caught early it is a hinge and bracket repair; left alone it can break the screen bezel and back cover.
Data recovery from the Dell Inspiron 17 5770
The SSD in the Dell Inspiron 17 5770 can be removed and imaged on our own equipment, so files can usually be recovered even when the machine will not start.

Questions
Can the SSD or memory in the Dell Inspiron 17 5770 be upgraded?
The SSD can be replaced with a larger M.2 drive. Memory depends on the configuration, which we check from the serial number.
My Dell Inspiron 17 5770 will not turn on. Is my data lost?
Usually not. The drive is separate from the fault in most cases, and we can remove it and copy your files even if the machine itself is not worth repairing.
Can the Dell Inspiron 17 5770 run Windows 11?
It depends on the processor. Versions with an 8th-generation Intel Core or Ryzen 2000-series chip or newer are supported.
